Hey friend —
Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately. It's all for a worthy cause! I'm finishing up my film and gearing up for The Passion of Sister Dottie S. Dixon premiere (May 1st at Rose Wagner). Tickets are on sale NOW. The play has kept me very busy. Not only have I co-written the piece — but I am co-producing with Pygmalion Theatre. So please be patient. I am on a short sebatical from my Q Salt Lake column as well. Of course I'm still helping Dottie with her weekly podcasts. She's all up in arms over the so-called Sacred Grounds Initiative that the Sutherland Institute and Gayle Rudezika have put together. And in her outrage, she has finally decided to come clean and reveal her secret history with Gayle! It's very shocking! Have a listen.
I'll be at the Amy Ray concert on Friday at the Avalon — and I'll be speaking at the Healthy Planet Winter Conference on February 14th at the University of Utah. We'll be screening the documentary The Times of Harvey Milk and then I'll be talking about the intersection of the queer and labor movements. Mike Thompson from Equality Utah will also be there to talk about the Common Grounds Initiative. I've very excited about this conference because it will bring together Utah's environmental, health care, queer and labor activists. This is what our movement needs most of all — a massive coalition dedicated to justice. Hope to see you there!
