Salt Lake City Weekly: 2009 in Preview

Troy_Crystal_SLC_Ball
You can read my prognosticating predictions of 2009 in this week's City Weekly. Yes, I, along with my cohorts in divination, Holly Mullen, Bill Frost and Angela Brown, pull out our seer stones and answer all the burning questions about the state of Utah and the world over the next year.  The future of the LDS Church, Big Love, gay activism, Chris Buttars and of course, my specialty topic: the Utah Jazz! Make sure you get that food supply of yours stocked and rotated.  You never know when the End of Days is likely to fall upon us! Could come real soon!  2012 is just around the corner folks!

Thanks for the opportunity Holly!

Film Wrap! Eco-Genesis

By Troy Williams

On New Years Day we finished principle photography on my short film.  We still have a little B-Roll to shoot (including footage in NYC!).  We have some voice-over work to finish and then we'll lay a string out throughout January.  Then we'll give everything over to our soundtrack guy Matt Mateus to create the audio art.  We'll have some post work/fx after that to pull together and we'll probably be able to screen the film in late May (after the Passion of Sister Dottie S. Dixon completes her run at the Rose Wagner!).  I've had some incredible help from folks — my fantastic cinematographer/editor Ryan Gass; stunning still-shots from Dave Newkirk; my beautiful actors, Justin Barker and David Daniels; brilliant custom art from Sandee Parsons, and a whole team of production help: Brandie Balken, David Luna, Humberto Estrada, Scotty Foust, Carolina Arias and so many more!  I also need offer A BIG thank you to Aninna Mitchell. Without her, none of this would have been possible.  There is a lot of work left to do and we are excited to start pulling it all together.

Here are some stills shot by Dave Newkirk — whose art will be featured throughout the piece.

The film promises to be an experience.  It's very surreal, non-linear and unconventional.  But what would you expect from an trans-racial eco-queer Zen love story?
